As 2,041 graduands followed the 43rd graduation procession from the comfort of their homes, Egerton University spread a message of hope and determination to its community and the world over – making them know that it is possible to wade through trying times despite the odds. The graduation, covered across multiple online platforms, was the second virtual graduation of Egerton University. The virtual ceremony, held at the graduation square, saw awarding of PhDs, Master degrees, Diplomas, and Bachelor degrees to all the graduates in a unique fashion in the presence of our Chancellor Dr. Narendra Raval, EBS, (Guru), the Cabinet Secretary (Education) Prof. George A. O. Magoha, and Permanent Secretary (University Education and Research) Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, university management, faculty deans, among other dignitaries in the education sector.
Today Egerton University is hosting a Farmers 'Open Day-cum-Stakeholders' Forum under NaPROCLA Project. Prof. Joshua Ogendo, who is the Project Leader-Kenya, explained that the aim of the forum is to share research outputs and best practices for ecological management of aphids in Dolichos bean (njahe beans). The project has been running for that last three years in Njoro and Rongai sub-counties, and will come to an end on 30th June 2021. The forum brought together farmers, agricultural extension officers, scientists, students and the general public. Forum was officially opened by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Extension) Prof. Bockline Bebe, Egerton University.
Some 2178 students at Egerton University are set to graduate this Friday virtually, as learning institutions embrace technology to continue with their programmes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
