Egerton University will host ten studentsfrom the University of Juba, South Sudan on a internship programme. The 6-weeks internship programme will run from 3rd October to 12th November 2021 and will support students to develop solutions for food security challenges in South Sudan.
Egerton University in collaboration with Michigan State University (MSU), United States International University-Africa (USIU), National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA-CLUSA) and the National Youth Bunge Association (NYBA) will connect youth through social and economic opportunities through the USAID funded USAID Empowered Youth Program. The team brings on board expertise in youth engagement, gender equality, research, community-led development, entrepreneurship, education, innovative technologies, and workforce development needed for program execution
On 14th-15th September 2021, the Jobs Open to the Youth (JOY) Project was launched at Egerton University’s CoELIB Centre attracting over 200 participants both physically and on online streaming platforms. The Project will boost rural youth empowerment and decent employment opportunities in Kenya and Cameroon. This will be attained through the provision of innovative financial and non-financial services through Integrated Agribusiness Hubs in Nakuru, Kakamega, and Kilifi Counties.
The in-country (phase 2) training on Crop Models and Remote Sensing for Water Management in Agricultural Systems is going to take place at Egerton University from the 24th to 28th Jan 2022.
The Faculty of Agriculture was honored to host Dr Susan Wyche from Michigan State University (MSU) for a one-week visit to Egerton University that ran from 1 to 8 March 2022. Dr. Susan held a public lecture for staff and held a 3-day training workshop on “Considering Human-Centered Design (HCD) in Development Research” to students from diverse backgrounds including in Computer science, Agronomy and Engineering disciplines at CMRT building, Njoro Main Campus.
A team from the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) led by their Chief Executive Officer Dr Tonny Omwansa visited Egerton University on 5 and 6 April 2021 to review the institution’s commercialization and technology transfer efforts.
