Senior members from the State Department of Higher Education and Research, led by the Director, Mr Darius Ogutu, on Friday 23^rd June 2023 were at Main Campus in Njoro for the Africa Higher Education Centre of Excellence (ACE) National Steering Committee meeting.

In a heartfelt tribute, we gather to remember and honour the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Professor Nephat Justus Kathuri. With deep sadness and profound respect, we reflect on the profound impact this visionary leader had during his tenure at Egerton University.

Egerton University has announced that about 40 of its students have been selected for the prestigious Arava International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT) program in Israel. This achievement comes after a rigorous and competitive selection process.

Tegemeo Institute, an affiliate of Egerton University, led a group of farmers and agricultural enthusiasts on an extraordinary farm tour across Kenya.

The tour, which started from June 22nd to June 24th, organized in collaboration with the Kenya Agricultural Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) and Agribench, aimed to promote knowledge sharing, empower farmers with the latest agricultural techniques, and provide insights into government programs.

The Regional Centre of Excellence in Agri-Food Systems and Nutrition (CE-AFSN) at Eduardo Mondlane University is implementing the African Centers of Excellence project,phase II, Additional financing (ACE II AF) for the East and Southern Africa funded by the World Bank

Egerton University was founded in 1939 as Egerton Farm School and was upgraded to an Agricultural College in 1950. In 1986, the Agricultural College became a constituent College of the University of Nairobi. It was elevated to a University in 1987 through an Act of Parliament.

Since its inception, the University has registered significant expansion in student in students, academic programmes and physical facilities. Currently the University has a student population of over 16,000 and a staff number of 1,553 and consists of two (2) campuses. Njoro Main Campus and Nakuru Town Campus College.

Egerton University, through the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP) a Government of Kenya project jointly supported by the World Bank has been actively involved in supporting farmers through various training and extension services.

KCSAP has been implemented over a five-year period (2017-2022) under the framework of the Agriculture Sector Development Strategy (ASDS) (2010-2020) and the National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS, 2010).
