  • Accelerating Partnerships and Social Support to Improve Nutrition and Health.

  • Egerton University’s Faculty of Health Science, on Friday, 23 July, launched the Nutrition and Dietetics Exchange Programme in collaboration with Boitekanelo College, Botswana. The launch took place during the celebrations of Nutrition Awareness Day at the Main Campus in Njoro.

  • Through a collaboration between Egerton University, faculty of health sciences, the East Africa Centre for vaccines and immunization (ECAVI) and Make A Medic (from the UK), 100 fourth year and 5th year medical students received free stethoscopes on 10th August, 2021; to help them improve their clinical skills in their medical training in the clinical areas. The collaboration is headed by Dr. Ombeva Malande, a lecturer in the department of pediatrics, saw medical students gifted with this important tool for medical practice.

  • The ‘SIM on Wheels’ is a mobile unit for simulation-based training of medical teams that employs advanced simulation-based training modalities that enable health care providers to effectively improve their clinical, communication, organizational and administrative abilities.

  • Egerton University lecturer in Paediatrics and Child Health, Dr Ombeva Malande and other health workers who recovered from COVID-19 have written a book titled: SURVIVING COVID-19: Experiencing God’s overcoming grace - The reflections of Ombeva Malande and other health workers who suffered and recovered from COVID-19.

  • The Chancellor of Egerton University, Dr Narendra Rameshchandra Raval, EBS will be visiting the Nakuru Town Campus College on Friday 3rd September, 2021.

  • Egerton University, in her Joint Nutrition and Dietetics (N&D) Internship Programme in the Department of Human Nutrition, Faculty of Health Sciences, trained farmers in Kitui and Taita Taveta counties in improving their nutrition and livelihoods in the drylands region. Together with Egerton students, the exchange students (interns) from Boitekanelo College in Botswana focused on accelerated partnership and social support in empowering women (pregnant and breastfeeding mothers) to prepare diverse, locally nutritious foods within dry regions and embrace embracing diverse nutrition fully to offer quality diets.

  • Egerton University staff and students, together with those from Boitekanelo College of Health Sciences, Botswana, joined the Mangu Diabetic Support Group in a community nutrition outreach activity to mark this year’s World Diabetes Day at Mangu Health Centre in Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru County. The event, which was celebrated on Sunday 14 November 2021, was also attended by staff from the Nakuru County Health Department led by Dr. Benedict Osore. Dr. Osore, who was the chief guest at the event, is the Director of Medical Services for Nakuru County. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the global theme for 2021-2023 World Diabetes Day is ‘Access to Diabetes Care’.

  • Scientific research is essential for the advancement of science and humanity at large. It is not only an engine for the generation of new knowledge but also offers a lens through which current practices can be examined. Through constant inquisitions and scientific research, what is currently good and acceptable can be made better.

  • Professor Yash Mahida from the University of Nottingham recently paid a courtesy call to Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Bernard Aduda at Egerton University's Main Campus on 5th June 2023. This visit is part of the ongoing collaboration between the United Kingdom and Kenyan institutions through the Kenya UK Health Alliance (KUKHA), which focuses on health matters. Egerton University and the University of Nottingham are among the key partners in this alliance.

  • The sombre atmosphere at Egerton University deepened on Friday evening, January 12, 2024, as the postgraduate community grappled with the untimely passing of Lamin Jawla.
