Dr. Samson Obure was on Tuesday May 8th elected as Dean Faculty of Health Sciences. Academic staff who took part in the election endorsed him unanimously at an event that was graced by the Registrar, Academic Affairs, Prof. Mwanarusi Said and Deputy Registrar in the same office, Dr. Maurice Udoto.While congratulating him, the faculty members hailed him as supportive and one who deals with staff and management well.
Dr. Obure is however not a new face in the Dean’s Office. He was first elected Dean in 2015 to 2017 and was reelected for a second term, which he served until 2019.
In 2023 he was appointed as acting Dean for two years. His election on Tuesday will see him serve the 1st term of his ‘second cycle’ as elected Dean for the next two years.
He said that his reelection is a sign of confidence in him adding that he was hopeful to make his service better.
The Registrar Academic Affairs, asked members of staff not to shy from taking up leadership positions at the faculty terming them as opportunities to learn.
Dr, Obure, a revered physician in Nakuru holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Nairobi and Masters of Medicine (MMED) specializing in Internal Medicine from the same institution.
