In a vibrant training session co-hosted by the Confucius Institute at Egerton University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage invited the youth to harness modern farming and best agricultural practices as effective pathways to income and empowerment.
Reflecting on the partnership and the broader context of innovation, he expressed his gratitude, saying: “We are deeply thankful to IFAD as a valued partner in this endeavor. Together, we are empowering our youth to embrace agriculture as a dynamic career and economic opportunity.”
Adding to the momentum, Prof. Kibwage urged participants to fully leverage the ongoing Kenya National Research Festival; running concurrently from August 18 to 22, 2025, right here at Egerton University’s main campus.
He encouraged trainees to make the most of the festival’s resources, saying: “I urge all of you, especially our youth and trainees, to take full advantage of the National Research Festival, which is running alongside this training—from 18th to 22nd August 2025. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with cutting-edge research, innovation, and experts across disciplines.”
Prof. Kibwage’s message underscored a holistic strategy: positioning young Kenyans at the intersection of knowledge, innovation, and opportunity, by weaving together hands-on training, international collaboration, and a national research platform.
