Egerton University received the leadership team from Oslo New University College (ONH), Norway, on a courtesy visit aimed at deepening academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The visit, which ran from 10–14 August 2025, builded on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2022 between Egerton University and ONH. The agreement established a framework for collaboration in teaching, research, student and staff mobility, and community engagement. Since then, the partnership has already seen several staff and student exchanges, delivery of professional courses, and active participation in community-based programs.
During the reception, Egerton University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Kibwage, emphasized the importance of international partnerships in enhancing the institution’s global outlook. He noted that the collaboration has contributed significantly to student exposure, staff development, and innovation in research and teaching approaches.
The ONH leadership team engaged with Egerton faculty, students, and surrounding communities in Rongai and Likia to learn more about how the University integrates academic work with real-world solutions. The team had meetings with faculty deans, joint workshops, and field visits to community projects supported by Egerton University.
Present during the reception were Prof. Gilbert Obwoyere, Egerton University programme coordinator; Prof. Scott Jones, ONH programme lead; Prof. George Owuor, Director of Research; Prof. Daniel Auka, Director of International Linkages and Collaborations; and the University’s Senior Legal Officer.
Speaking on behalf of the ONH delegation, team leader Prof. Gilbert Obwoyere expressed enthusiasm about the visit, highlighting its role in consolidating the achievements of the past three years while exploring new opportunities.
The strengthened partnership is expected to expand the reach of both universities in advancing quality education, research collaboration, and community transformation.
