Egerton University has officially achieved ISO certification, marking a key step in its pursuit of excellence. The announcement came on Thursday during a closeout meeting with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) officials. University departments now have the green light to make final corrections on the few areas flagged as non-conformities. Once done, the institution will collect its ISO 9001:2015 certificate.
Prof. Richard Mulwa, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration, Finance, and Planning, urged the team to stay vigilant. “Getting this certification is one difficult task,” he said. “The more challenging task ahead is maintaining the certification standards.”
Cheers and sighs of relief filled the room.
Prof. Mackenzie, Director of the ISO Directorate, could finally exhale. “I held my joy with bated breath before the KEBS officials made the announcement,” he said. “I will today have some sleep.” He described the journey as intense; marked by audits, reviews, and occasional discomfort. “There were toes stepped on,” he added, “but it was worth aligning every staff member and process to university standards.”
Egerton now stands proud among institutions driven by quality and accountability.
