Dr. Zachary Bosire Omariba is a dedicated and accomplished academician with over 17 years of progressive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership in Computer Science. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science at Egerton University. His expertise spans computer security, databases, research methods, and computing ethics. Dr. Omariba holds a Doctor of Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, a Master of Science in Computer Science from Periyar University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Karnatak University.
He has led and contributed to several award-winning innovations including SmartKura (electronic voting system), JobWerra, and Smart Air Quality Management. He has also supervised postgraduate research across Kenya, South Africa, and China, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively engaged in curriculum development and ICT innovation projects.
Dr. Omariba is a Cisco Certified Network Associate and an IBM Certified Cybersecurity Analyst. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, and the Internet Society Foundation. His research interests include information security, data analytics, and emerging technologies. He has represented Egerton University in numerous national and international conferences and workshops, and continues to serve in various academic and community leadership roles.
