SUMMARY

 I am a lecturer in the Department of Dairy and Food Science and Technology. I was employed in September 1990. I have supervised research at postgraduate as well as undergrduate level. I am passionate about Food preservation, safety, nutrition and food product innovation and use diversification.I have served  in many capacities besides designing experiments, lecturing and supervision. I have been departmental Chairperson postgraduate committee from 2012 to date, programme leader BSc. Food Science and Technology from 2017 to Date, Team leader or guide for for Departmental self assessment programs , Departmental Industrial attachment coordinator since sept, 2016, Chair Dairy staff Welfare association since 2014, i have been appointed on several occassions to chair commitees in evaluating  tendering and procurement processes and been a resource person in  workshops and outreach  programs. I have supervised three PhD students to completion and have two masters students and two PhD Students on course. I have externally examined three post graduate students.I am a member of Kenya Institute of Food Science and Technology and Member of Royal Society of Biology ,UK. I have edited in Journal of American Oil Chemists Society.

1999-2008: Lecturing and assessing students, Assessing students on Field attachment, Conducting practical classes, guide Diploma and Undergraduate students in research, participate in outreach programs such as Agricultural shows and conduct tours to visitors to the Dairy and Food Department, member of Departmental curriculum committee and other duties as determined by superiors.

Sept 2012 - Date Same as above but include Lecturing and supervising research at postgraduate level, Source for funding through writing project proposals.

2012- Date Departmental Post graduate Chair and representative in the Faculty of Agriculture Post Graduate Committee.

KEY PROJECTS

I have been involved in projects such as those funding my students as an implementor or supervisor. This students have been funded by NRF, NUFFIC, CESAAM, ICRISAT all in the tune of 10m. The student who was funded by nuffic and CESAAM got the funding by using my concept paper that enabled him get the Scholarship.

  8. Optimization of potato and sweat potato cultivars processing and subsequent physic-chemical and sensory analysis.
