WORK EXPERIENCE
August 2022 Physiology Medical Laboratory Technologist and Laboratory QA Committee (Chair) Mount Kenya University Laboratory QA Committee (chair) 1. Overseeing quality delivery of practicals and research work in the laboratories. 2. Ensuring that practical manuals are up to date and initiate review if need be. 3. Reviewing quality management processes in the laboratory 4. Chairing and preparing monthly reports on the committee progress. 5. Spearheading audits and inspections in the laboratories 6. Performing any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor. Physiology Medical Laboratory Technologist 1. Consulting with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans. 2. Conducting and demonstrating practical sessions to students 3. Preparing equipment and chemicals before practical sessions 4. Maintaining/custodian of equipment and laboratory apparatus in the assigned laboratories. 5. Maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities through performing operator maintenance, and schedules annual and any other regular maintenance as required per manufacturer and/or university policies. 6. Record keeping, e.g. For students' practical sessions, tracking methods and results. 7. Reporting any failure/breakdown of equipment to the Principal Technologist. 8. Working with individual students and supporting them on research projects. 9. Managing the stock control of chemicals and equipment. 10. Ensuring regular and scheduled maintenance log of equipment including their repair and calibration 11. Analyzing samples of blood and body fluids for diagnosis and correctly preserving test samples and disposing of laboratory waste 2. Preparing reagents and stains for Hematology, microbiology and histocytology departments. 3. Preparing referral samples for referred tests. 4. Releasing patient results promptly to physicians or directly to the patients 5. Ensuring required stock and supplies are available. 6. Ensuring that all SOPs relevant to and necessary for the efficient functioning of the laboratory are updated and followed. 2. Ensuring that all technical staff members are trained in quality control and performing corrective actions on unacceptable QC. 3. Ensuring that all QC programs run in the lab are performed within schedule, results reviewed and discussed with all relevant staff and corrective action done where indicated. 4. Maintaining staff training and competency records. 5. Preparing yearly schedule for QC meetings and facilitating them as well as ensuring that minutes are kept. Also following up any action identified during these meetings to be implemented within the agreed time limit. 6. Ensuring that maintenance, servicing, and repairs are performed as scheduled on all instruments/equipment in the laboratory and that relevant records are maintained. 7. Ensuring methodologies for tests done on site are validated. 8. Supporting all audit preparations and facilitating timely response to audit outcomes.
HONORS, PRIZE AND AWARDS
Pathcare Kenya Laboratories 1. Reduced the number of non-conformances in Pathcare Mombasa laboratory from 20 to 8 in year 2020 and 2021. 2. Maintained overall good stats of quality indicators- TAT, Client complains resolving time, equipment maintenance and personnel records monitoring Mount Kenya University 1. Involved in preparation of successful CUE audit in year 2022. 2. Involved in conducting and marking of KMLTTB exams in year 2023 January
