Preparations for the upcoming National Research Festival 2025 gained momentum as senior officials from the National Research Fund (NRF), Egerton University, and the National Organising Committee paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Governor, Nakuru County.The high-level delegation was led by Prof. Dickson Andala, Chief Executive Officer of the NRF; Prof. Vasey Mwaje, Chairperson of the Festival.
Representing Vice Chancellor Egerton University Prof Isaac Kibwage were: Prof. Eng. Japheth Onyando, Chair of the Local Organising Committee; and Prof. Nzula Kitaka, Director of Marketing and Resource Mobilization at Egerton University.

The team was received by Deputy Governor Dr. David Kones, who stood in for H.E. Governor Susan Kihika. The visit aimed to enhance coordination between the County Government and the host institution, Egerton University, in preparation for the Festival, which will run from August 18 to 22, 2025.
The officials discussed key areas of collaboration, including County-level logistical support, community mobilization, and joint efforts to enhance visibility and impact of the event, which is expected to attract thousands of delegates from across Kenya and beyond.
“This Festival is a symbol of how research can bring together institutions, governments, and communities. We have made significant progress in our preparations and are excited to welcome researchers, students, innovators, and policy makers to Egerton University,” said Prof. Dickson Andala.
Prof. Vasey Mwaje emphasized the pivotal role of Nakuru County as co-host, especially in amplifying public engagement.
“The County's involvement will be instrumental in mobilizing local communities and ensuring the Festival becomes a dynamic, inclusive space for research dissemination and learning,” he noted.
Speaking on behalf of the County Government, Dr. David Kones affirmed Nakuru’s readiness and commitment.“Research must inform our development agenda. Nakuru County is proud to support this event and will collaborate closely with NRF and Egerton University to make it a success,” he said.
The visit concluded with a commitment from all parties to work collaboratively toward a successful, inclusive, and impactful National Research Festival 2025.
