Egerton University, the National Research Fund (NRF), and the Nakuru County Government have jointly affirmed their readiness to host the National Research Festival 2025, which will take place from August 18 to 22 at Egerton University’s Njoro Main Campus.
In a joint press briefing held at the University, Prof. Dickson Andala, CEO of the National Research Fund, said the event will be a landmark gathering for Kenya’s research and innovation ecosystem.
“The National Research Fund has continued to support researchers across all public and private universities in Kenya,” Prof. Andala said. “Some of this work has resulted in real-world impact, including commercialized innovations at institutions like Egerton University and KALRO. This festival is a platform to share these successes with the nation.”
Prof. Isaac Kibwage, Vice Chancellor of Egerton University, expressed pride in the institution’s role as host, emphasizing the university’s commitment to nurturing research and innovation.
“Egerton University is honored to host this prestigious event,” Prof. Kibwage said. “We are dedicating our facilities, staff, and logistical support to ensure that this becomes a truly national and inclusive platform for knowledge exchange. I welcome all delegates, community members, and especially young people and students to participate, showcase, and learn.”
Representing the Nakuru County Government, Mr. Leonard Bor, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, reaffirmed the County’s partnership in supporting research for development.
“We see research as a key driver of informed policy and improved livelihoods,” Mr. Bor noted. “The County Government is keen on ensuring that research outcomes are translated into practical solutions that benefit our farmers, entrepreneurs, and communities.”
Prof. Vasey Mwaje, Chair of the National Research Festival, called on institutions, innovators, and stakeholders to prepare exhibits, papers, and community engagement forums for the festival.
The Festival is expected to bring together participants from universities, research institutions, industry, government, and civil society to showcase innovations, exchange ideas, and inspire policy change.
