Egerton University, in collaboration with the National Research Fund (NRF) and the Nakuru County Festival Committee, held a strategic meeting yesterday to launch Phase One of preparations for the Kenya National Research Festival. The meeting resulted in the formation of a dedicated Planning Committee to spearhead publicity and ensure the festival gains national visibility and impact.
Today, Phase One of the publicity plan was activated, centered around creating awareness and showcasing the breadth and depth of research and innovation associated with the festival. To bring this to life, the day was dedicated to producing content—filming interviews, capturing visuals, and telling stories that reflect the core of Kenya’s scientific potential.
These efforts were aimed at building a compelling narrative for both the public and potential stakeholders.
The day began with filming at the Agro Science Park, followed by the Agricultural Engineering Department, where innovations in mechanization and sustainable farming were showcased. The team also met with the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, who emphasized the faculty's role in advancing applied research. The Food Safe Labs offered insight into food safety and post-harvest technologies, while the Elburgon Dairy Milk Cooperative, a Nakuru County project, highlighted community-based innovation. The final stop was Field 7, where ongoing sorghum trials demonstrate research in climate-resilient agriculture.
The day concluded with a closing meeting at 5:30 p.m., where the Planning Committee reviewed progress and reaffirmed each department’s role in supporting the festival. A clear call to action was issued: to work collaboratively and ensure the success of the Kenya National Research Festival through active engagement and visibility efforts.
This kickoff marks a strong start toward a national celebration of research, innovation, and academic excellence.
Today’s developments not only marked the formal launch of Phase One but also demonstrated Egerton University’s role as a host and leading institution in research visibility and impact.
