Commission for University Education Conducts Quality Audit at Egerton University
A team from the Commission for University Education (CUE) paid a courtesy call to Egerton University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac O. Kibwage today, marking the start of a one-week institutional quality audit at the university.
Prof. Kibwage welcomed the team and expressed Egerton University’s full commitment to supporting the audit process. He emphasized the institution’s dedication to upholding high-quality standards in line with the regulations set by the commission.
“Our staff are fully prepared to cooperate with the Commission during this quality audit. Egerton University is committed to offering quality education, innovative research, and ensuring conformity to the required standards,” said Prof. Kibwage.
During their visit, the CUE team will engage with various stakeholders within the university, including members of the Senate, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Faculty representatives, and students. These discussions will focus on the integration of disruptive technologies such as online learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how these advancements are influencing teaching, research, and university operations.
Prof. Some noted that the audit will assess how well the university complies with the Universities Act and CUE regulations. “We are looking into various components such as institutional quality, adherence to standards and guidelines, physical infrastructure, information and communication technology (ICT), and staff performance,” he said.
Dr. Marete added that special attention will also be given to standards in key operational areas including manufacturing, production processes, and human resource management.
The audit aims to ensure Egerton University maintains and improves the quality of education, innovation, and service delivery in line with national and global standards.
