Egerton University had invited bidders via tender notice published on the Public Procurement Information Portal website https://www.tenders.go.ke and on the University website, https://www.egerton.ac.ke dated 7th June, 2024 for the tender stated below:

Please take note of the following clarification/ addendum,
The following amendments are made to the specified provisions of the tender document for the Tender document for Supply, Delivery, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Database Server, Application Server, Web Portal Server and Projector for Egerton University.
1. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PRINCIPALTENDER DOCUMENT
Save where expressly amended by the terms of this Addendum, the Principal tender document shall continue to be in full and effect.
The provisions of this Addendum shall be deemed to have been incorporated in and shall be read as part of the principal tender Document.
2. AMENDEMENTS /CLARIFICATIONS
A. CLARIFICATION
I. TENDER SECURITY
Question:
That a bidder sought clarification as follows:
Kindly clarify under technical specifications for the DB, App and Web Server respectively;
- Two 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with 28 cores per processor (Intel®
Xeon® Silver 4309Y 2.8G, 8C/16T, 10.4GT/s, 12M Cache, Turbo, HT (105W) DDR4-2666)
Kindly clarify whether you need a 28-core or 8-core processor for the DB server because the specifications are conflicting.
- Front bays: 3.5" Chassis with up to 8 Hard Drives (SAS/SATA), 1 CPU At least Populated with a total 40TB SSD 4 bays remain empty to allow future expansion(Maximum 16x 2.5-inch (Rear bays: ? Maximum 2x 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/NVMe (HDD/SSD) maximum 15.36 TB NVMe drives)
Kindly clarify because this specs for Drives are conflicting.
- 8 SFF SAS/SATA (SSD) max 128 TB 20TB
Kindly clarify because for E-2300 series processor the maximum Drive bays are four(4) which means it can only accommodate HDD of 8TB or 7.68TB SSD for the App and Web server.
In view of above set of clarifications, kindly consider extending the closing date for a further one(1) week to enable prepare a comprehensive proposal.

That the specifications for Application and Database Web Server have been reviewed and are amended to read as below:-
