Entry Requirements for Bachelor's Degree

Entry Requirements for Diploma Programmes

The entry requirements set out below are only minimum, and they do not in any way, entitle an applicant to a place in the University. Applicants must:

  • Have the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with an average grade 'C' passed at one sitting from at least seven subjects drawn from subject groupings as specified by the Kenya
  • National Examinations Council or equivalent. Provided that candidates with disabilities will be given special consideration with regard to the number of subjects taken at KCSE.


  • Hold a certificate from a recognized institution with a 'Credit' pass or higher or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution in the relevant field of specialization, acceptable to Senate.


  • Meet additional or specific entry requirements as may be specified by the respective Department, Faculty, School or Institute offering the Diploma programme.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education


Equivalent Mean Grade of C- (Minus) and above
NOTE: Bridging courses - One must have D+ and above in the relevant subject.

Pre-Diploma in Computer Science Certificate (Nakuru Town Campus College)


A Mean Grade of D+ in KCSE and PHYSICS D+

Admission to any programme at Egerton university follows well laid procedures. The admission options available to prospective students are as follows:-

Undergraduate Module I

Students Sponsored by the Kenyan Government:
This is done through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), formerly the national Joint Admission Board (JAB), the body that does admission of students for all public universities in Kenya.

Undergraduate Module II

SELF Sponsored - SSP Students:
To apply for any undergraduate programme as a self sponsored student, you can obtain an application form online or from our admissions offices upon payment of application fee.

The closing date for receiving applications for the all programmes shall be as determined by the Senate from time to time.
