Ladies and gentlemen,
On behalf of the Egerton University fraternity, I welcome you to the 4K Club Open Day. We are delighted to showcase practical agricultural learning and community engagement initiatives today.
As a university founded on a strong agricultural heritage, Egerton remains committed to nurturing practical skills. Through our partnership with schools, government agencies and other stakeholders, we have been supporting the revitalization of 4K Clubs in Njoro and beyond. We are empowering learners with knowledge in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and responsible farming practices
The 4K movement (Kuungana, Kufanya, Kusaidia Kenya) has for decades provided young learners with opportunities to develop themselves with practical and relevant agricultural skills. Here at Egerton the programme is undertaken at the Department of Agricultural Education and Extension in the Faculty of Education and Community Studies.
At Egerton University, the 4K Club is coordinated through the Department of Agricultural Education and Extension in the Faculty of Education and Community Studies. Through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, the County Government of Nakuru, school administrators, teachers and development partners, the University has played a leading role in strengthening 4K Clubs in schools across Njoro Sub-County.
In collaboration with partners such as aak-GROW and more recently West Virginia University, Egerton has supported the training of teachers, headteachers, patrons and learners while providing mentorship through lecturers and university students.
Ladies and gentlemen, as we officially open this event, I encourage all participants to learn, interact, share experiences, and explore the opportunities that agriculture offers.
Welcome to Egerton University, and I wish you a successful and enriching 4K Club Open Day.
