In a bold move towards fostering innovation, education, and economic growth, Egerton University has announced the development of its Innovation Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Master Plan (IECMP). This strategic initiative signals a pivotal moment in the institution's journey towards becoming a world-class hub for entrepreneurship and societal advancement.
Egerton University hosted dons from Virginia Tech University from United States of America in a meeting that took place at the Main Campus, Njoro, Nakuru County, Kenya. In a move that saw a raft of issues discussed, the Deputy Vice Chancellor In charge of Academics, Research and Extension Professor Bernard Aduda led the discussions during the courtesy call at the Vice Chancellors Board room.
Egerton University and Bowie State University, USA, launched the 2024 Global Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates in Kenya on 13 June at Egerton University. This year’s cohort comprises of fifteen (15) students drawn from nine (9) American universities.
At the 2nd RUFORUM Triennial Conference, Egerton University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Kibwage, joined Gulu University's Prof. George Openjuru in a panel discussion reflecting on the impact of TAGDev 1.0. Prof. Kibwage emphasized the transformational changes brought by the program at Egerton University, highlighting how agriculture, often associated with poverty, has been repositioned as a lucrative field for young people.
A delegation from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), led by Andre Ntamada, visited Egerton University to review ongoing projects funded by the USDA. The team was welcomed by university officials, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Research and Extension, Prof. Bernard Aduda. The visit highlighted the USDA’s commitment to advancing agricultural research and development in Africa, particularly through innovative fields such as biotechnology and gene editing.
Egerton University recently hosted Nanjing University at its Vice-Chancellor's Boardroom and various other parts of the campus, further solidifying the collaboration between the two institutions. The visit was marked by a special invitation extended to Prof. Isaac Kibwage, Vice-Chancellor of Egerton University, to visit Nanjing University in China. This invitation was issued by Prof. Liu Yutao, the former Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Egerton, symbolizing the growing bond between the two universities.
